Short description
The station Litzlberg Süd is a Neolithic pile dwelling settlement known since 1904 in the north-western part of Lake Attersee in Upper Austria. The remains of the World Heritage Site Litzlberg Süd are located at a maximum depth of 3.5 metres. According to current knowledge, the size of this settlement is 125m x 60m. Along the shore area the cultural layer lies open in a narrow strip. Occasionally, crushed ceramic fragments and piles protruding from the bottom of the lake can be found.

Special features & Highlights
The pile dwelling settlement of Litzlbergis amongst the settlements with the best preservation of cultural layers. The massive cultural layer packages and the very good coverage of the site offer pristine conditions for a rich spectrum of finds and are especially important for an understanding of small-scale development processes.
