The International Logboat Regatta 2023
In the week leading up to the regatta, visitors could marvel at the construction of a logboat in the courtyard of the Archäologisches Landesmuseum Baden-Württemberg. Under the guidance of an experimental archaeologist, apprentices from ForstBW built a seaworthy logboat from a blank.
On saturday 3 June, 14 teams – 8 regional and 6 international – took part in the regatta. The sporting event was accompanied by an archaeological market that provided a vivid insight into the world of pile dwellings, experimental archaeology and various scientific methods such as archaeozoology and dendrochronology. The award ceremony for the national and international teams took place in a festive setting at the Seemuseum in Kreuzlingen (CH). On Sunday, the Archäologisches Landesmuseum Baden-Württemberg offered free admission to its exhibitions.
