Biandronno (VA) | Isolino Virginia-Camilla-Isola di San Biagio
Description
actuellement disponible uniquement en langue anglaise
Among the prehistoric pile-dwellings of the Alps, Isolino Virginia is the one with the oldest finds. Isolino was inhabited by prehistoric inhabitants for over 4.000 years, from the Early Neolithic to the end of the Bronze Age, between 5300 and 900 BC. On the island and around it, monumental Neolithic wooden structures were preserved since they were covered by the water of the lake, sediments and vegetation, which through the centuries overlapped. The humid environment and the waterlogged soil has allowed the conservation of woods, seeds, hazelnuts shells, vegetables fibres and bones of animals.
